Mixte

Samantha, W 37th St & S Iron St, Chicago, IL

What are you wearing? My dad's old leather jacket. It's great for biking
Tell me about your bike.  It is a Turquoise Fuji Absolute mixte that I got from Working Bikes
Where are you going? Headed back to Hyde Park.  I am leaving the MDW art fair.  It was fantastic!
Why ride? Because it makes me happy.
Favorite ride? I love biking along the lake in Hyde Park
While riding you …?  Eat sunflower seeds and sing out loud.

Rose, 400 Block of W Washington Blvd, Chicago, IL

Rose rides a Blue Motobecane Grand Touring Mixte that she got from a nice fella in her neighborhood via Craigslist.

What are you wearing?  My favorite Barney-colored hoodie.  It is like a second skin.
Where are you going?
I'm headed to Daley Plaza to run an errand before heading to work at UIC.  If I could only figure out how to get through these closed bridges!
Why ride?
Its cheaper, greener, great exercise, and on a good day is fun and exhilarating.
While riding you …?
...Often have the theme to Taxi in my head - especially if its nighttime.
How can Chicago improve bike infrastructure or make Chicago more bike friendly?  Expand and respect bike lanes and repair more roads.

Angee, 1500 Block of N. Damen Chicago, IL

I spotted Angee (hope I am spelling that right) as she rode by after our "Ladies that Bike Brunch,"
which you can read about on Dottie's blog   Lets go Ride a bike.  I love that she makes
biking winter look so effortless.

Caroline, Green St., Chicago, IL
Caroline rides a vintage Schwinn she calls "Sportin' Life" after the slick pimp in Porgy and Bess
Cycling Tip from Caroline:  First get a helmet, second get a basket (especially if you carry a purse) and third, get a warm jacket.  You can ride much farther into the cold weather than you might imagine.

Jessica, Division St., Chicago, IL
Jessica rides a Schwinn Sport 10-speed converted into a single speed with glider seat and handle-bars.
Cycling Tip from Jessica: stick to bike-friendly streets and wear a helmet (even though I am not wearing one here)

Emily, Wood St. and Milwaukee Ave., Chicago, IL
Emily rides a Schwinn Le Tour frame with a teal powder coat.
Cycling tip from Emily:  Be courteous and stop at stop lights- gaining respect from drivers is the fastest way to make things safer on the roads.

**Like Emily's bag?  I know I do!  She designs locally made, fashionable, and functional bike bags and accessories.  Check it out at  www.pocampo.com

Sara, Canal St, Chicago, IL
Sara rides a 2010 Jamis Commuter from Roscoe Village Bikes
