Amelia, Wellington and Lincoln, Chicago, IL

Amelia rides a Schwinn LeTour that she painted purple,  and changed out  parts on.
Cycling Tip from Amelia: don't be discouraged by the cold or snow. Get a cheap
mountain bike and some good protection for your limbs and you're good to go!
It can actually be more peaceful than biking in the summer if you're well prepared
with warm clothing.

  1. I am so impressed by how much you get out and about in this town! You are all over Chicago. I suppose though that comes from having your own two wheels for getting you around!

  2. I have been all over Chicago on two wheels, but I have a serious deficiency of south side photos! If you have friends in Pilsen, Bridgeport, or beyond, let me know.

  3. It is true, you just have to get out there in enough clothes to keep you warm and you discover that it is a fantastic time to ride... invigorating is the word i would use!!

  5. Great blog. Anybody looks great on a bike. You should come over to Dusseldorf, there are some seriously beautiful people on two wheels over here, including me.

  6. I agree, people should get out there and ride in the winter. but what's all these people riding without fenders? of all the debates: helmet v. non-helmet, studded tires v. non-studded tires, fenders strikes me as the least controversial and most clearly beneficial.

  7. Snow riding can be fun! Fenders are a nice addition to help with the snow. My rear rack acts a a fender so I've been able to ride winter without them.

  8. So, are there no males who "look good" biking in Chicago?

  9. I started this photo project with the intent of increasing the visibility of female riders, directly inspired from this Scientific American article:

I've considered including men for some time, but it is a lot more challenging to find well dressed men on bikes (sorry guys), and I only have so many hours in the day. That said, maybe I can include men in the future :)
