Tslanie, N Stave St & W St. Helen St, Chicago, IL

Tselanie rides a AMF cruiser with a front basket from Working Bikes.

What are you wearing? I love this skirt. It  is a super windy, warm day, and I've changed clothes like 5 times to accommodate the weather/find a skirt that was less flouncy than the rest to prevent flashing.
Where are you going? Home for a spell (to change....again!) then Tastee Freeze and Whistler.
Why ride? you get places on your terms.  No waiting for trains, buses, no parking.  And it's fun.
Favorite ride? I like riding through the residential blocks around my neighborhood and places i hang out: Logan Square, Wicker Park, Ukrainian Village, etc...

Carron, 1400 Block of Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL

Carron rides a Lotus Silver Speed Queen Mixte
What are you wearing?
A woolen berry, a kharki green skirt, and green jacket with gold buttons, stockings and copper shoes.
Where are you going?  To Rodan

Why ride? Its quick.
Favorite ride? I love being on the free road, nothing like cycling up a mountain and coming down the other side. But Chicago is mostly flat so I suffice riding down to Hyde Park and back.
I recommend cycling holidays, its the best way to travel and you really see a city, countryside etc. France is good for people starting out for the more leisurely rides and then when you've grasped the mountains I would head to Spain or Scotland. I cycled coast to coast in Britain, from Morcombe to Scarborough one summer which was a glorious ride. We went at a leisurely pace and did it in ten days.
While riding you …?
I love to cycle through the loop free handed, its so liberating!

How can Chicago improve bike infrastructure or make Chicago more bike friendly?
Fill in the pot holes, they are super dangerous for us cyclists making us wiggle into oncoming traffic. More cycle lanes and in the U.K. they have an area at the front of the traffic at lights so vehicles can see all the cyclists. It might make drivers annoyed but it would make them more aware.

Maureen and Gus, N Milwaukee Ave & W Bloomingdale Ave, Chicago, IL

Where are you going?  Uprise and then to the thrift...summer clothes shopping.
Tell me about your bikes:  Gus's bike is an 80's aluminum and steel raleigh racer, a friend gave it to us. Maureen rides a Raleigh Cruiser, purchased at working bikes.
Why Ride?  I commute to work everyday on my bike, Gus rides often. We don't have a car so all our errands are taken care of on our bikes. Plus just riding for fun...
Bike riding is faster, cheaper and way more fun, plus the fuel is milkshakes and hamburgers.
Favorite ride?  We love Milwaukee Ave...for commuting. The Lakeshore is really fun too.
While riding... we yell directions back and forth a lot, check folks out... It's a really nice part of our life together.
*****  We usually wear helmets

Where are you going? shopping!
Why ride? it's faster and cheaper
Favorite ride? logan blvd... the huge trees and houses make for great sightseeing
While riding you …?  Plan what I'm going to make for dinner
How can Chicago improve bike infrastructure or make Chicago more bike friendly? i just think that people need to pay more attention when they are driving... not just for people on bikes, but for pedestrians and other drivers

Celeste, N Milwaukee Ave & W Halsted, Chicago, IL

Celeste rides a 1980's Schwinn World Sport from Working Bikes.

What are you wearing? I'm taking my brand-new skirt from the Gap Outlet for its first spin, paired with an American Apparel tee.
Where are you going? I'm running late (as usual) to biochemistry class at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine.
Why ride? Nothing moves the Qi like an early morning bike ride!
Favorite ride? Riding along the beautiful boulevards in Logan Square, especially if I'm headed to the farmer's market in the summer.
While riding you...? People watch and window shop.
How can Chicago improve bike infrastructure or make Chicago more bike friendly? Chicago has to fill up those pot holes, especially in bike lanes! I also wish there were more off-road or wider bike lanes so I wouldn't have to fear cars and could bike side-by-side with a friend or my boyfriend.
